Oct. 11, 2008
This was my first time hiking in my new home state, North Carolina. After having a scenic tour of greater Raleigh, my friend Kris and I finally found the park and found a hiking trail at Umstead State Park.
Sept. 1, 2007
Absolutely gorgeous day, but the people were out in droves because of it. Wintertime hiking is looking better and better... PICS

Beautiful day, but the park was empty. Maybe there was a bear sighting. ;-) PICS
Apr. 21, 2007
75 degrees today! We hiked about 10 miles (we about died). PICS
Feb. 24, 2007
Best hiking day so far this year! We went on the Appalachian Trail this time, north towards Maine. We didn't get that far, though. PICS
Feb. 17, 2007
Beautiful hiking day today (compared to how friggin' cold it's been!) PICS
Feb. 3, 2007
Too cold to take too many pictures today! PICS
Jan. 28, 2007
Lots of crazy people out and about today in the cold park. We saw another bear, only this time it was a person. I could have sworn it was a bear. EXCUSE ME for caring about you and trying to save your life. No... Of course you must make fun of me and tell me how surprised you were that the bear could talk and later on, drive away! Yeah, yeah, yeah... PICS
Jan. 20, 2007
We were the only morons to go hiking on a day where the temp climbed to 32 degrees. We did hear two birds somewhere off in the distance, but besides that - no signs of life anywhere. Unless you count the "bear." PICS
Jan. 14, 2007 - Caledonia State Park (Charcoal Hearth trail: Approx. 3 miles long)
We saw a scary witch who was wandering the trail alone, and we were almost attacked by a bear (that turned out to be a tree stump), and little Miss Peyton had to sit down every 5 feet, but we eventually made it through! PICS
