I have found this website after much searching for some answers to my pain. I'll explain, For some months I've had on and off sharp chest pains but its happened and gone in seconds and I thought nothing of it. Until last Thursday when I had the worst pains ever in the left hand side of chest (under breast)whereby I couldn't breathe whilst it was taking place followed by feeling of sickness/dissiness and loss all colour in face. I felt ill for the remainder of evening and next day and can still now feel where the pains been. I have also been having twinges of pain but much duller in the same area which then panics me to think its going to happen again. I have seen doc on Friday and rang again on saturday but they think I just had a chest cramp and said if it happened again they could arrange a chest x ray but I felt they were dismissing me. I now feel really anxious about it and when it might happen again as I thought I was going to die that night, it also scared my 5 year daughter as she was in the room at the same time and she ran to get my husband saying something was wrong with mummy. Can any one tell me what I can do to ease this as it seems like the symptons similar to some I have read on here.

Why have they not done an EKG? Or if they have, what have they said?

I've had the same thing. On my left side, I will feel a very sharp painful stabing feeling right below my left breast. It only lasts for a few seconds but it's a painful few seconds. It's so painful that I'm scared to take a deep breath because doing so hurts. It takes me a little while to calm down once this happens.
My doctor told me it was gas, an ER doctor told me it had nothing to do with MVP, but a 3rd ER doctor told me MVP can cause those types of pain.

Im only 23 and Here recently I've had these really sharp chest pain in my left side under my breast it only last for a second and then goes away. A few months ago I was diagnosed with costicondritus. Its Where the cartilage connecting the ribs and the breast plate is inflammed. it comes and goes but now all of a sudden I have these sharp pains shooting. I went to the ER last night and they did a CBC. My platelets are very low. and my WBC are very low. my Luekocytes are way above normal and my Segs are low. The doctor wasnt too concered he said I had mono. But i dont think mono can cause this. I've had several EKG's and chest X-rays all normal.

was it kind of like a quick "stab" that took your breath away?

I got several of those recently and i am assuming they are MVPS related chest pains. They are so annoying and scary though because once i have one, i am just expecting another one and they hurt! I used to also get them as a teenager.

It seems to be related to my brain somehow because after i have one, i feel kinda out of it for a while.

All times are ET (US)
