Does anyone get a dull tightness in their chest? It doesn't actually hurt, although periodically I will get a little zap that scares the crap out of me, but it is bothersome nonetheless. It is difficult to describe and sometimes I'm unable to determine whether this feeling is really there or whether I am just focusing on my chest too much. OK...I just paused to focus more on what it feels like and I think this might be a better description. It feels like I'm inadvertently tightening my chest the same way one would clench their teeth. Does this sound familiar to anyone? For the ladies out there, I'm always pulling my bra away from my chest or taking it off to relieve the feeling. Also, I find that when all my other symptoms rear their ugly heads everything centers around my chest. For example, instead of getting hunger pains, I get chest willies. If I eat too much I feel it in my chest. If I'm a bit constipated, I feel it my chest etc. If I get too tired I feel it in my chest. Does this sound familiar to any of you?

I can definetly relate. I do the bra thing too....thinking that will help somehow, but it doesn't. I get the chest tighting about every other month. It drives me absolutely nuts. I just try to relax and understand that this is another crappy symptom we have to deal with. Hope you feel better soon.------------------ Michelle Keller

Thanks! Your responses were both very helpful.Yes, I've been checked-out by my internist and a cardiologist last March both who have confirmed my mvp and warned me of palpitations, chest pain etc. It is just peculiar to me that for all these years (11 years since originally being diagnosed) I've gone without symptoms...

ANEUROTIC,When I am nervous I do tend to tighten up my chest. I kid myself that I must now have very strong pecs! I often get spasms on the right side, or along the ribcage under my arm. It is a peculiar sensation, but I try not to worry too much about it since I know what is causing it.

Thanks for the posts. Haven't been here for a while, and needed to this morning. Last night was awful, after a long period of little or no symptoms. I had the tightness, a feeling that my breath was short (but it wasn't)--and those "zaps." That's what was so scary. I was having those twinges of a shooting pain through the chest that are si intense you can't help but thinking you're going to die. This was all accompanied by a ringing in the ears (or should I say, louder ringing; I have tinnitus).

If our doctors tell us there's nothing wrong (except, of course, the MVP), I guess we have to believe them. But those jabs of chest pain never seem to show that something "harmless" is going on in there. We really do have a condition that mimics a heart attack. That's the worst part. I fear that if I was having a real one, I wouldn't go to the hospital.

I hear you Dave. I have been having chest pain all week and I am afraid to go to the doctor as all they do is run expensive tests, tell me nothing is wrong and then send me home. So why am I having the pain and feel so yucky? Oh well, this is when I have to have complete faith in God that he will protect me and that does comfort me.
