Hey guys and gals,Sometimes I get a strange pain underneath my left arm. Kind of like in my arm pit region, but extending down my side 6 inches below my armpit. It is not a severe pain, but mild to moderate, and usually accompanies some mild to moderate chest pain. I know its not a heart attack, because it is not a crushing or severe pain, and it doesnt radiate to my shoulder or left arm. Just my left armpit area. I am a slender 25 year old male in moderate physical condition. I was diagnosed MVP about a month ago. Anyone else have any experience with this? Feedback is greatly appreciated.

At one time I had pain under my left arm also. I would especially feel it when I was bench pressing. The dr. said it was from drinking too much coffee. I used to drink 5-6 cups a day. Caffeine is a breast stimulator. I don't know if it has the same effect on men. When I cut out caffeine the pain went away. Why don't you go to the dr. and get it checked out? Thanks nawchem. Yeah, I also cut out caffine before my diagnosis when I became symptomatic three months ago. I am going to get a check up here in about 2 weeks, so I will ask the doc then. How much do you bench, by the way?

Does it hurt when you press down on your armpit, or is it more a radiating pain down your side? If it hurts when you press down on your armpit, or if you can feel small lumps when you push, you should know that this area of the body has many lymph nodes which sometimes get swollen with infection (for instance, if you are battling a mild cold or flu, or if you have cut your armpit while shaving--probably not if you're a guy; but I'm just saying Antiperspirants can be irritants so if your skin is chaffed in the area, a little might have gotten in a caused a minor skin irritation). Lymph swellings are usually nothing to worry about PROVIDED they don't persist longer than 2 weeks. It is possible that your pain is related to lymph nodes. If you think it is, monitor it for 1-2 weeks. If it doesn't improve, I would probably check with your doctor. Other things it could be is a pulled muscle. As with anything though, if you are a worried, have it checked out. [This message has been edited by horizon (edited November 11, 2003).]
